No. 24 Softball’s McKenzie Parker named Big 12 Conference Co-Player of the Week

The junior capped her big week with a walk-off, two-RBI double in an 11-10 comeback W over No. 20/18 LSU
AUSTIN, Texas – A strong week's work at the plate, while helping lead Texas softball (21-9-1) to a 5-0 record against ranked teams, has paid off as junior designated player McKenzie Parker has received her first career selection as the Big 12 Conference's Co-Player of the Week (March 22).
The Conroe, Texas, product led the Longhorns over five match-ups against No. 23 Louisiana and No. 20/18 LSU by hitting .500 (6-for-12) overall with a double, a HR, four walks, a team-leading eight RBIs and a 1.458 OPS. Parker also hit safely in all five games while registering three multi-RBI efforts.
She started off her week in a doubleheader at No. 23 Louisiana by knocking in five total runs, including three on a three-run HR in the opener, as Texas swept the powerful Ragin' Cajuns. During the three-game series against No. 20/18 LSU, Parker batted at a .571 (4-for-7) clip with a double, two walks and three RBIs. Her biggest hit of the week came during the series finale against the Tigers as Parker launched a 3-2, two-out pitch off the wall in left for the walk-off, two-RBI double as Texas completed its rally back from a 10-4, sixth-inning deficit to an 11-10 victory and series sweep.
Parker is currently riding a 14-game reached base streak and a career-long 10-game hitting streak heading into Tuesday's home match-up against Lamar (4 p.m. CT – Longhorn Network). Over her 10-game skein, she is hitting .462 (12-for-26) with two doubles, two HR's and 13 RBIs.
