94th Texas Relays End With Texas Women Winning 4x400 Relay

AUSTIN, Texas – The Texas Longhorns closed out the final day of the 94th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays presented by Truist with four relays wins and Texas Relays records.
Saturday began with the Texas men winning the 4x200 relay for the first time since 2003 after Daniel Garland, Marcellus Moore, Micaiah Harris and Willington Wright won the event with a time of 1:20.80. The time ranks as the second-fastest time in Texas history and .01 second off from the Texas record.
The women broke the Texas Relays and Texas 4x200 record with their time of 1:29.03 seconds. Julien Alfred, Rhasidat Adeleke, Kevona Davis and Stacey Ann Williams are the first group of Longhorns to win the title since 2014. The time is also the No. 2 time ever recorded in the NCAA.
Later in the day, Alfred, Davis, Adeleke and Kynnedy Flannel won the Carlette Guidry 4x100 relay with a time of 42.83 seconds. It was the first time in seven seasons the Longhorns won the event.
The women of Kennedy Simon, Adeleke, Alfred and Williams broke the Sanya Richards-Ross 4x400 relay record and Texas program record with a time of 3:22.94, that ranks No. 2 all-time in NCAA history.
Freshman Chrystal Herpin set a personal-best in the women's discus A section with a throw of 53.27m (174-9) to finish fourth.
Emelia Chatfield finished fifth in the 100m hurdles with her personal-best time of 12.97 seconds.
Tyra Gittens won the women's long jump with a mark of 6.82m (22-4.50), the No. 10 All conditions All-Time mark in Texas history. Ackelia Smith finishes sixth with her jump of 6.72m (22-0.75).
Moore and Garland ran a wind-aided time of 9.99 seconds and 10.18 in the men's 100m invitational to take the top two times of the day. Later, Kennedy Simon finished with a time of 22.90 second, while Chatfield ran a time of 23.25.
Tripp Piperi took down Ryan Crouser's outdoor program record and Texas Relays record with a throw of 21.54m (70-8) to win the shot put event. Jalil Brewer finished third with a mark of 19.61m, which ranks as the No. 9 mark on the all-time list. Patrick Piperi finished eighth with a mark of 18.55m (60-10.50). Marilyn Nwora climbed into the women's all-time list to No. 5 with a mark of 16.93m (55-6.50) to finish fourth overall.
