Piperi Named National Athlete of the Week

AUSTIN, Texas – Tripp Piperi was named the USTFCCCA Male Athlete of the Week after winning the shot put event at the Texas Relays in record fashion.

The All-American took down world record holder and two-time gold medalist Ryan Crouser's outdoor shot put Texas record with a throw of 21.54m (70-8). Crouser previously set the record (21.39m / 70-2.25) in 2014 at the Big 12 Championships.

Crouser also held the previous Texas Relays record set in 2014 with a throw of 21.27m (69-9.50).

Piperi threw over 21 meters on his last four attempts, including breaking the record on two different throws.
