No. 9/10 Women’s Basketball tops Oklahoma State, 65-50, on Senior Day

Lauren Ebo records a career-high 17 points to help propel the Longhorns to their eighth-straight victory
AUSTIN, TEXAS. — The No. 9/10 Texas Women's Basketball Team capped off the 2021-22 regular season in style Saturday afternoon as it posted a 65-50 Senior Day victory over Oklahoma State in front of 12,506 fans, in what was the final regular season contest played inside the Frank Erwin Center.
With the win, the Longhorns run their win streak to eight games and finish the regular season 23-6 overall with a 13-5 mark in Big 12 Conference play and sweep the regular season series with the Cowgirls. OSU finishes to 8-19, 3-15.
Texas also secured at least a No. 3 seed in next weeks' Big 12 Championship with the victory. UT can still clinch the No. 2 with an Iowa State loss at West Virginia Saturday evening.
The Longhorns and came out of the gates fast as they built up a 23-9 advantage in the opening frame while holding the Cowgirls to just 2-of-13 shooting. Texas used a 17-11 second quarter to take a 40-20 lead into the break.
OSU responded in the second half as they clamped down on defense and outscored UT 30-25, but couldn't climb out of the deficit.
Senior forward Lauren Ebo led the charge offensively finishing with a career-high 17 points on 6-of-9 shooting to go along with a team-best six rebounds.
Rori Harmon tallied 13 points on 6-of-9 shooting while adding four assists and four steals. Audrey Warren and Aaliyah Moore finished with eight points, respectively.
Texas forced 20 turnovers in the game, which led to 20 points.Texas committed 15 turnovers on the other end.
UT held a 35-32 rebounding advantage in the contest and outscored OSU 34-22 in the paint.
The Longhorns finished the game shooting 48.2 percent (27-of-56) from the field and 71.4 percent 10-of-14 from the free throw line
OSU finished the game shooting 30.6 percent (15-of-49) from the field and 33.3 percent (2-of-6) from behind the arc.
The Cowgirls were led offensively by Lauren Fields and Lexy Keys who posted 10 points, respectively. Fields and Taylen Collins each tallied five rebounds to lead the team on the glass.
The Longhorns will now gear up for the Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship next week at Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City.
Having secured a spot in the tournament quarterfinals, the Longhorns will kick off play on Friday, March 11. Semifinals are slated for Saturday, March 12 with the Championship game taking place on Sunday, March 13.
