No. 1 Men’s Swimming and Diving qualifies 23 for NCAA Championships

The Longhorns have the largest number of qualifiers of any men’s program heading into the national championships.
AUSTIN, Texas – No. 1 Texas Men's Swimming and Diving had 22 student-athletes qualify for the upcoming 2022 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships to be held at the McAuley Aquatic Center in Atlanta from March 23-26. Additionally, the defending national champions have qualified all five of its swimming relays for the national meet.
All told, 19 swimmers and four divers qualified for the NCAA Championships with Texas holding numerous top-10 rankings.
Fresh off Big 12 Championship Swimmer of the Meet honors, sophomore Carson Foster heads into the national meet ranked second in the 400 IM and is the fifth-seed in both the 200 IM and 200 back.
Junior Caspar Corbeau is also ranked among the top-10 in three events, sitting third in the 100 breast, seventh in the 200 breast and the ninth in the 200 IM.
Cameron Auchinachie is among the top-10 in a pair of events, as the senior stands fifth in the 50 free and seventh in the 100 back. Freshman Luke Hobson also heads to Atlanta with two top-10 seeds as a second-seed in the 500 free and seventh-seed in the 1650 free.
After posting the third-fastest 1650 free in program history at the American Short Course Championships on Saturday with a time of 14:32.40, sophomore David Johnston will compete in Atlanta as the second-seed.
A trio of seniors are making return trips as top-10 seeds. Daniel Krueger cracks the top-three in the 100 free as the third-seed, while Drew Kibler is the seventh-seed in the 200 free and Alvin Jiang is the 10th-seed in the 100 back.
Junior Jake Foster also registered a top-10 qualifier this year will be the seven-seed in the 400 IM.
Sophomore Noah Duperre will compete in all three diving events (1-meter, 3-meter, Platform), while junior Andrew Harness, qualified on the Platform and the 1-meter.
Only 18 roster spots are available for the national championships. Texas is looking for an NCAA record 16th national championship.
