Campus landmark to be lit in burnt orange in celebration of Rowing's 2022 Big 12 Championship.
AUSTIN, Texas — The University of Texas Tower will be lit in Burnt Orange on Sunday evening, May 15, in recognition of No. 1 Rowing's Big 12 Conference championship title. Fans are encouraged to arrive in front of the Littlefield Fountain on 21st Street from 8-8:30 p.m. CT, when the team will arrive to take group photos with their Big 12 trophies.
Per campus tradition, the UT Tower is bathed in Burnt Orange lighting from top-to-bottom when a University of Texas athletics team wins a conference championship.
The No. 1 Rowing team won the 2022 Big 12 title with a clean sweep of five races at Walter E. Long Lake on Sunday morning. It marked the seventh consecutive and 11th overall league title for the Longhorns. Additionally, the team's first-place finish secured a trip to the 2022 NCAA Championships set for May 27-29 in Sarasota, Fla. where the Longhorns will look to defend their national title.
