Elendt places eighth in 4x100m mixed medley relay at FINA World Championships

Anna Elendt competed in the 4x100m mixed relay with Germany; Carson Foster swam the second-fastest 200 IM in the semifinals to clinch a spot in the final.
BUDAPEST, Hungary – Texas Swimming's Anna Elendt placed eighth in the 4x100m mixed relay and Carson Foster qualified for the 200 IM final at the FINA World Championships on Tuesday at the Danube Arena. Foster will compete in the 200 IM final on Wednesday.
Elendt, who won silver on Monday in the 100m breaststroke, helped Germany to an eighth-place finish in the 4x100m mixed medley with a time of 3:46.64, swimming the breaststroke leg in 1:05.83. The United States won gold in 3:38.79, while Austrailia finished second in 3:41.34 and The Netherlands placed third in 3:41.54. In the morning session preliminary heats, Germany qualified for the final with the eighth-fastest overall time at 3:46.54 with Elendt recording a breaststroke leg of 1:05.59.
Foster qualified for his second individual race of the meet, finishing second in his 200 IM semifinal with a personal-best 1:56.44, the second-fastest semifinal time overall. Leon Marchard of France advanced to the final as the top seed with a time of 1:55.75. Foster, the top qualifier for the United States, registered the fastest mark in the preliminary heats with a time of 1:57.94. The rising junior won silver in the 400 IM on Saturday.
The FINA World Championships resume on Wednesday with the morning session getting underway at 2 a.m. CT and the evening session at 11 a.m. CT. The morning session will be streamed on fina.org and the evening session can be viewed on the Olympic Channel and Peacock.
