Elendt advances to 50m breaststroke final at FINA World Championships

Anna Elendt qualified for the women’s 50m breaststroke final and Drew Kibler earned bronze in the mixed 4x100 free relay after competing in the preliminary round.
BUDAPEST, Hungary – Texas Swimming's Anna Elendt qualified for Germany in the women's 50-meter breaststroke final and Drew Kibler helped the United States win bronze in the mixed 4x100-meter freestyle relay at the FINA World Championships on Friday at the Danube Arena.
Elendt advanced to tomorrow's 50m breast final after placing fourth in her semifinal heat in 30.30, the seventh-fastest time in the semis. She progressed to the semifinals after recording the fourth-best time in the preliminary heats with a personal-best time of 30.12.
Australia won the mixed 4x100 free relay in world record fashion, posting a time of 3:19.38. Canada placed second in 3:20.61 and the United States took third in 3:21.09.
Kibler earned a bronze medal by competing in the event's preliminary round, helping the U.S. to the top time in the heats of 3:24.48 with a 48.26 split during the second leg. It marked Kibler's second medal of the week after winning gold in the men's 4x200-meter free relay on Thursday.
The swimming portion of the FINA World Championships conclude on Saturday with the morning session getting underway at 2 a.m. CT and the evening session at 11 a.m. CT. The morning session will be streamed on fina.org and the evening session can be viewed on the Olympic Channel and Peacock.
