Talented junior player from Germany will join the Longhorns as a freshman for the upcoming 2022-23 season.
AUSTIN, Texas — Nicole Rivkin (Bremen, Germany) has signed a National Letter of Intent (NLI) to play tennis at The University of Texas, head coach Howard Joffe announced Tuesday. Rivkin will be eligible as a freshman for the upcoming 2022-23 season.
"During her recruitment, I was well aware of the capabilities, skill and talent that constitute Nicole, the tennis player," Joffe said. "But it was on her official visit to Austin where our players, coaches and team saw what a formidable young person Nicole is. She is kind, respectful, driven and passionate, and I fully expect her to be a big contributor to the 2022-23 edition of the Longhorns."
Rivkin has a current UTR (Universal Tennis Rating) of 10.90. The UTR is a global tennis player rating system intended to produce an objective, consistent and accurate index of players' skill in the game of tennis.
Rivkin achieved a career-high ITF (International Tennis Federation) junior singles ranking of No. 53 (May 10, 2021). She has won four ITF junior singles and four ITF junior doubles titles. Rivkin advanced to the singles final at the ITF 15K tourney in Amiens, France in March, and her run included an 0-6, 6-1, 6-0 victory over current WTA No. 453 Sina Herrmann in the Round of 16.
