The Longhorns posted three top-seven finishes on Friday night.
MISSION VIEJO, Calif. – Texas Swimming's David Johnston won the 400-meter IM to highlight the third day of the 2021-2022 TYR Pro Swim Series on Friday at the Marguerite Aquatics Center.
Johnston won the 400m IM with a time of 4:19.54, almost five seconds ahead of runner-up Ilya Kharun (4:24.31), while Tyler Kopp (4:27.03) finished third.
"It was just a good racing experience," Johnston said. "It's my favorite event to swim, and I just really enjoy getting up and racing a 400 IM final and just getting that experience for later on in the season. I'm making good progress and looking forward to tomorrow and to keep training hard."
The victory was Johnston's second of the week after winning the 1500-meter freestyle in Wednesday.
On the women's side, Kyla Leibel took fourth in the 200 free (2:00.49) and Morgan Brophy finished seventh in the 100 fly with a time of 1:01.85.
