The Texas-Ex delivered the key three-run double during USA Softball’s 3-2, gold medal win over Japan
AUSTIN, Texas – Texas-Ex Janae Jefferson is officially a world champion as the second baseman helped power the USA Softball Women's National Team to the gold medal at the 2022 World Games over July 9-13 in Birmingham, Ala.
Late Wednesday night during the second inning of the gold medal tilt against defending Olympic champion and world No. 2-ranked Japan, the Humble, Texas, product delivered the clutch two-out hit by lining a 3-1 pitch past short and to the wall in left center to unload the bases and grant the Red, White & Blue a 3-0 lead in an eventual 3-2 victory.
With the triumph in the event signifying as the 2022 world championship, the USA Softball Women's National Team secured its third consecutive World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) World Championship following previous gold medal finishes at the 2016 and 2018 tournaments.
During its dominant run through the World Games, Team USA posted a perfect 5-0 record while hitting .331 overall as a team and out-scoring its opponents, 31-4.
