Simon and Team USA win bronze at World Championships

EUGENE, Ore. – Kennedy Simon and Team USA won the bronze medal in the mixed 4x400 relay at the 2022 World Championships on Friday night.
After running the fastest qualifying time to start the day at 3:11.75, Simon and company made their way to the finals. Elijah Godwin, 19-time medalist Allyson Felix, Vernon Norwodd and Simon finished third with a time of 3:10.16.
Stacey Ann Williams made her first appearance at the meet running as the anchor leg for Jamaica and finished fifth with a time of 3:12.71. Rhasidat Adeleke ran the second leg of the mixed 4x400 in the prelims helping Ireland reach the finals.
Two Longhorns qualified for the shot put finals as Ryan Crouser finished with the best mark of 22.28m, which he recorded on his first attempt. NCAA Champion Tripp Piperi finished eighth with a mark of 21.03m to advance to his first World Championships final.
Steffin McCarter was the final Longhorn in action on Friday and qualified for the long jump final with a mark of 7.94m.
