Volleyball ranked No. 2 in AVCA preseason coaches’ poll

The Longhorns are ranked in the top four of the preseason poll for the 16th-consecutive season.
AUSTIN, Texas – Texas Volleyball will begin the 2022 season as the No. 2 ranked team in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Preseason Coaches' Poll, the organization announced Monday.
The Longhorns appear in the top four of the AVCA preseason poll for the 16th-consecutive season and are ranked in the top two spots for the ninth time in the last 16 seasons.
Texas, who was picked first in the Big 12 Coaches' Poll, is one of three Big 12 teams in the top-25 as Baylor came in at No. 16 and Kansas is ranked 23rd.
The Longhorns will open the regular season against a slew of ranked teams, first taking on No. 7 Ohio State in Columbus on August 26 and 27. The home opener will be against preseason No. 5 Minnesota on August 31 at 7 p.m. at Gregory Gym. Texas then heads back on the road to face preseason No. 14 Stanford on Sept. 4 at 3 p.m.
Texas will get its first test against outside opposition, playing Rice in Houston, on Saturday, August 20 at 1 p.m. in an exhibition match.
