RV Women’s Basketball falls at Oklahoma State, 86-82

STILLWATER, Okla. — DeYona Gaston scored 22 points and the Texas women's basketball team made a late run, but came up short in an 86-82 defeat at Oklahoma State on Saturday.
Sonya Morris scored 16 points for Texas, Rori Harmon tallied 11 points and freshman Amina Muhammad added 10 points. Shay Holle scored nine second half points for the Longhorns. Khadija Faye scored five points and grabbed nine rebounds.
Texas (11-5, 2-1) trailed by as many of 12 with 8:34 to play in the fourth quarter, but a Holle 3-pointer tied the game 72-72 with 5:27 to play in the game. After going down 80-76, Gaston made a turnaround jumper to close to gap to 80-78, but Oklahoma State responded as they increased their lead to four with 30 seconds to play and held on for the victory.
Up next the Longhorns will host No. 21 Kansas at home on Jan. 10 with a 7:00 p.m. CT start on LHN.

• DeYona Gaston made her first six shots and scored 12 points in the first half. Gaston scored 20 or more points for the second straight game and fourth time of the season.
