No. 4 Volleyball’s O’Neal named Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week

Senior Asjia O’Neal recognized for the third time this season and fifth in her career.
AUSTIN, Texas – No. 4 Texas Volleyball's Asjia O'Neal has been named the Big 12 Conference Defensive Player of the Week for the third time this season, the league office announced Tuesday.
O'Neal led the Longhorns to two wins against then-No. 20 Baylor. The Southlake, Texas product helped the Longhorns reverse sweep the Bears in the first match before taking down Baylor in three sets in the second match to extend Texas' home Big 12 winning streak to 72 matches.
The three-time First Team Academic All-Big 12 selection finished with 1.50 blocks per set during the week. O'Neal has been named Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week three times this season and her five career weekly defensive accolades are tied for the sixth most all time.
Texas heads on the road for the next three matches, starting at West Virginia on Thursday at 5 p.m. CT and Friday at 4 p.m. CT with both matches broadcast on Big 12 Now on ESPN+.
