AUSTIN, TEXAS – Bob Schneider, one of the most revered Austin artists of all time, will headline Longhorn City Limits presented by Still Austin Whiskey on Friday, November 24! The FREE gameday concert, located on the LBJ Lawn, will take place prior to Texas Football's regular season finale versus Texas Tech. Schneider will be joined by very special guest Scott Ballew with live music beginning at 3 p.m.
Austin based singer-songwriter Bob Schneider, former frontman of The Ugly Americans and The Scabs, is one of the most-celebrated musicians in the Live Music Capital of the World. Combining diverse styles, Schneider's music spans genres, blending elements of folk, rock, rap, funk, bluegrass, reggae and country with the more traditional singer/songwriter aesthetic. In short, FRUNK.
Schneider has won more than 59 Austin Music Awards including Best Album, Best Songwriter, Best Musician, and Best Male Vocals making him the most decorated artist in Austin's storied music history.
Schneider's fan base reaches far beyond the city limits of Austin. He started gaining national recognition with his major-label debut for Universal Records, Lonelyland. A fiercely-independent artist, Schneider opted to start his own label, Shockorama
Records, which has afforded him the freedom to make the music his fans love, on his own terms.
Schneider's live performances, both solo and with the band, are legendary. A two-time performer on the famed Austin City Limits television show, he is also in the 20th year of his residency at The Saxon Pub. All told, he plays over a hundred shows a year and he doesn't plan on slowing down anytime soon.
"We're closing out Longhorn City Limits this season in a big way with Austin's own Bob Schneider," Vice President and Folgers Family Athletics Director Chris Del Conte said. "I hope Longhorn Nation has a fantastic Thanksgiving and can't wait to see the Burnt Orange and White out early on the LBJ Lawn celebrating live music on the Forty Acres."
Opening Longhorn City Limits is Austin singer-songwriter Scott Ballew. Inspired by the music of Michael Hurley and Townes Van Zandt, Ballew first found a creative outlet in the form of films, directing the Terry Allen documentary 'Everything For All Reasons'. In 2021, he released his debut album Talking to Mountains and quickly followed it up with 2022's Leisure Rodeo. He just finalized his latest album Rio Bravo which will be released this spring via La Honda/RCA Records. Scott and his father David were both members of Texas Football national championship teams.
The LBJ Lawn will open at 2 p.m. with Scott Ballew kicking things off at 3 p.m. prior to Bob Schneider hitting the stage at 4:30 p.m. approximately.
Fans ages 21 and up can enjoy signature experiences at Longhorn City Limits including the Still Austin Music Lounge beginning at 8 a.m. Serving up a full menu of refreshments including the Still Austin Horns Up Bourbon Lemonade on ice, the lounge provides relaxation in a shaded area while enjoying the show. Fans won't want to miss surprises and limited-edition swag curated by Still Austin Whiskey Co, the homegrown grain-to-glass craft distillery using 100% Texas grains.
Also returning for a second consecutive season is the Tito's Tailgate located in front of the LBJ Fountain featuring refreshing Tito's cocktails on tap and shaded views of the stage to tailgate in real Texas fashion.
Concert goers can also enjoy Stubb's BBQ and pregame happy hour pricing featuring select $5 domestic and $6.50 premium beers at Longhorn City Limits.
