11.25.2023 | Football
The Longhorns will be making their seventh appearance in the Big 12 title game, while the Cowboys will be playing in their second.
AUSTIN, Texas – No. 7 Football will meet No. 20 Oklahoma State in the Big 12 Championship game on Saturday, Dec. 2 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
The Longhorns (11-1, 8-1) clinched the top seed on Friday with a 57-7 victory over Texas Tech at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium. The Cowboys (9-3, 7-2) earned the No. 2 seed with a 40-34 home victory in double overtime against BYU on Saturday.
Texas will play in the Big 12 title game for the first time since 2018 and seventh time overall, the second-most appearance in conference history. The Longhorns won the inaugural Big 12 Championship in 1996, as well as in 2005 and 2009. Oklahoma State fell to Baylor in the 2021 championship game, the Cowboys' only other appearance in the game.
The Longhorns own an all-time record of 26-11 against the Cowboys, with a 15-7 mark at home and a 9-4 record in Stillwater. UT has won both of the neutral site meetings against OSU, topping the Cowboys 14-7 in San Antonio in the first-ever meeting between the programs in 1916, then collecting a 21-0 victory in 1920 when the teams played in Dallas.
Texas and Oklahoma State have split the last four games in the series with the Cowboys winning the last two, including a 41-34 decision in Stillwater last season.
The Big 12 Championships will kick off at 11:00 a.m. CT and air on ABC.
