Jefferson, USA Softball combine to outscore six opponents, 60-8
AUSTIN, Texas – For the second consecutive Pan American Games, a representative of The University of Texas softball program helped the U.S. Women's National Team (WNT) to a gold medal as Janae Jefferson and Team USA went 6-0 throughout the last seven days to claim the organization's 10th Pan American Games gold medal.
Jefferson saw action in all six games while splitting time in right field and at second base, defensively. At the plate, she drove in a run on a sacrifice fly in the Eagles' tournament-opening, three-inning game against Chile on Sunday, Oct. 29. Three games later, she drew a base on balls during Team USA's eight-run, six-inning victory against Puerto Rico on Friday, Nov. 3. She was also credited with a sacrifice hit against Canada on Friday, Nov. 3.
Jefferson became the third different Longhorn softball representative to win a gold medal with the USWNT at the Pan American Games, joining Cat Osterman (2007, 2019) and Taylor Hoagland (2011).
