No. 5/9 Women’s Basketball improves to 10-0 with 106-62 win over Long Beach State

Longhorns hit 100 points for the fourth time this season in the victory.
AUSTIN, Texas — The Texas women's basketball team allowed 18 first half points and came away with a 106-62 win over Long Beach State on Wednesday at Moody Center.
Texas improved to 10-0 on the season, their best start since the 2015-16 season. Prior to the game the Longhorns received their Big 12 championship rings from the 2022-23 season, their first regular season championship since the 2003-04 season.
Taylor Jones led the way with 21 points on 7-of-10 shooting and notched her third double-double of the season as she added 10 rebounds. Rori Harmon tallied 17 points on 7-of-10 shooting and recorded six steals. Ndjakalenga Mwenentanda and Khadija Faye came off the bench to combine for 26 points on 10-of-14 shooting from the field. Madison Booker scored eight points and added five rebounds and seven assists with no turnovers.
2022-23 First Team All-Big 12 selection DeYona Gaston made her return to the court and scored nine points and grabbed five rebounds.
Texas closed the first half on a 20-5 run and took a 57-18 lead into halftime. In the third quarter the Longhorns continued that momentum and outscored Long Beach State 30-19. The Longhorns hit the century point mark for the fourth time this season with an Aaliyah Moore basket with 3:46 to play in the fourth quarter to take a 101-50 lead.
Up next the Longhorns will face their first true road test with a game at Arizona on Wednesday, Dec. 13.

• Texas hit the century mark for the fourth time this season. The last time the Longhorns had a season with at least four 100-point games was the 1988-89 season.
• The Longhorns never trailed and have not trailed in nine of their 10 games this season.
