Men’s Basketball signee Holland named finalist for Naismith High School Boys Player of the Year

Ron Holland is one of five finalists for the prestigious award which honors the High School National Player of the Year.
AUSTIN, Texas — University of Texas Men's Basketball signee Ron Holland is one of five finalists for the Jersey Mike's Naismith High School Boys Player of the Year, the Atlanta Tipoff Club announced Thursday. The winner of the Jersey Mike's Naismith High School Boys Player of the Year Trophy will be announced on Friday, March 3.
In addition to Holland, the other four finalists for the Naismith Player of the Year include Cameron Boozer (Miami, Fla.), Isaiah Collier (Marietta, Ga.), Justin Edwards (Philadelphia, Pa.) and D.J. Wagner (Camden, N.J.).
Holland previously was selected to compete in the upcoming McDonald's All-American Game. On Tuesday (Feb. 14), he was one of 13 players selected for the 2023 USA Men's Nike Hoop Summit Team.
Holland (6-8, 200), a forward from Duncanville, Texas who just concluded his prep career at Duncanville High School, is ranked as the No. 1 power forward in the nation, the No. 1 recruit in the state of Texas and the No. 6 overall player in the country in the Class of 2023 by 247 Sports. During his four-year career at Duncanville, Holland led the school to an overall record of 123-8 including a 26-0 mark in the UIL state playoffs. He finished his prep career with over 1,500 points and over 900 rebounds. Duncanville completed the 2022-23 season with a 29-1 record.
