AUGUSTA, Ga. — Sophomore All-American Bohyun Park wrapped up the final round of the Augusta National Women's Amateur on Saturday.
Park shot rounds of 73-70 for a one-under par score after 36 holes. The field of 72 elite amateur golfers played two rounds at the Champions Retreat golf course and was cut to 30 for the final round. Park finished the two rounds tied for ninth place on the individual leaderboard.
Those that made the cut had the opportunity to play the final round on the Augusta National golf course, the week before the 87th Masters Tournament. Only three of those that made the cut shot under par under difficult conditions. Park shot 82 for the final round and finished 31ston the leaderboard.
On Thursday in the second round, Park made an ace on the par 3, eighth hole. Park's ace was the first in the history of the Augusta National Women's Amateur.
"I'm very proud of Bo," Texas head coach Ryan Murphy said. "Getting into this event and ultimately making the cut is a long process and not many make it. She struggled today, but that's golf. When she started the round it was blowing 15-20 mph and the greens at Augusta National are not only very fast, but they are firm too. It's the ultimate test and one that will serve her going forward for sure. Overall, I'm nothing but proud of Bo Park."
Park earned All-America honors as a freshman as she played in 11 tournaments with a stroke average of 72.65 and posted a team-best 15 rounds at par or better. In her sophomore season Park finished tied for second-place in the ANNIKA Intercollegiate and tied for 11th in The Momorial.
Park and the Longhorns continue their spring season with the Big 12 Match Play event in Scottdale, Ariz., April 7-9.
