Women’s Basketball Khadija Faye wins gold at Francophone Games

Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo — Senior Khadija Faye and Senegal won the gold medal in the 2023 Francophone Games on Saturday.

The Francophone Games are a combination of artistic and sporting events for the Francophonie, mostly French-speaking nations and former colonies of France. The games have been held every four years since 1989.

The 2023 edition of the Francophone Games are being held in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Senegal captured the gold medal with a 78-54 win over Cameroon in the final.

Faye, a native of Dakar, Senegal, played in all 36 games for the Longhorns this past season. Faye averaged 5.9 points and 5.1 rebounds per game and registered five double-doubles on the season.
