Women’s Tennis opens play at Wolfpack Invitational and USTA Intercollegiate Championships

The Longhorns won six of their seven matches on the opening day of the two tournaments.
Cary, N.C./San Diego – Texas Women's Tennis picked up wins in six of their seven matches on day one at two separate tournaments. The Longhorns have a total of six players participating in competitions this weekend with four in the Wolfpack Invitational/Ranked Spotlight in Cary, N.C., and two in the USTA Intercollegiate Championships in San Diego, Calif.
Senior No. 74 Charlotte Chavatipon, senior Taisiya Pachkaleva, sophomore Nicole Rivkin and graduate No. 18 Tanya Sasnouskaya are representing the Longhorns at the Wolfpack Invitational/Ranked Spotlight, while sophomore Vivian Ovrootsky and senior No. 99 Malaika Rapolu are competing at the USTA Intercollegiate Championships.
At the Wolfpack Invitational, the No. 54 duo of Rivkin and Pachkaleva won both of their doubles matches, defeating Carol Lee and Kylie Bilchev of Georgia Tech, 6-2, before defeating Dana Guzman and Alina Shcherbinina of Oklahoma, 7-5. The No. 35 pair of Sasnouskaya and Chavatipon defeated No. 43 Amelia Rajecki and Maddy Zampardo of Georgia Tech, 6-3, before falling in their second match to No. 19 Mary Stoiana and Mia Kupres of Texas A&M, 7-5.
Singles play at the Wolfpack Invitational begins Friday, Sept. 22, with all four Longhorns set to compete. Sasnouskaya and Chavitipon will compete in the A-1 draw, while Rivkin and Pachkaleva will compete in the A-2 draw.
Out west in San Diego, Ovrootsky and Rapolu won their doubles match over USC's Parker Fry and McKenna Koenig, 6-4, to advance to the round of 16, while both also posted victories in their singles matches. Ovrootsky defeated San Diego State's Gloria Alogo Piqueras, 6-0, 4-1, and Rapolu downed Jocelyn Massey of Kansas, 6-4, 6-2.
