Women’s Tennis signs international standout Shachf Lieberman

Shachf Lieberman, a native of Modiin, Israel, will join the Longhorns’ roster this spring.
Austin – University of Texas Women's Tennis has signed international standout Shachf Lieberman to a National Letter of Intent (NLI) and Athletic Scholarship Agreement (ASA), head coach Howard Joffe announced Wednesday. Lieberman will enroll and join the program in this spring.
"With several top schools in the SEC and ACC courting her, I feel extremely fortunate and grateful to Shachf for choosing Texas on such short notice," Joffe said. "I have come to learn that Shachf is not only a superb and driven tennis player, but also an excellent student, and I intend to work for her and with her to actualize her goals in all settings."
"I am very excited to join an excellent tennis program and a top university in the world like the University of Texas," Lieberman said. "I can't wait to come and see everything and meet my teammates and build what I know will be amazing relationships with them to go along with what I've already started with the coaching staff."
A native of Modiin, Israel, Lieberman has held a career-high juniors ranking of No. 358, and career-high WTA rankings of No. 1239 in singles and No. 1380 in doubles.
This past year, Lieberman reached the singles round of 16 at the W15 Kursumlijska Banja in Serbia and the W15 Vejle in Denmark. She also advanced to the doubles semifinals of Kursumlijska Banja, in addition to the doubles semis of the W15 Heraklion in Greece in 2022.
In juniors, Lieberman was both a singles and doubles finalist at the J4 Ramat Ha Sharon in 2021, and she also made the singles final of the J5 Beer Sheva in 2019. In 2018, she won six-straight matches to advance out of qualifying all the way the semifinals of the Tel Aviv Open where she came up just short in three sets.
