Women’s Basketball’s Madison Booker among top 10 candidates for Cheryl Miller Award

The Cheryl Miller Award goes to the top female collegiate small forward.
AUSTIN, Texas — Texas women's basketball freshman Madison Booker was selected amongst the best small forwards in women's college basketball as she made the list of the top 10 candidates for the Cheryl Miller Award, the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame and the WBCA announced on Wednesday.
Named after the three-time Naismith Player of the Year and Class of 1995 Hall of Famer Cheryl Miller, the annual award, in its seventh year and recognizes the top small forwards in women's NCAA Division I college basketball.
Booker, who has scored in double figures in 10 straight games, is averaging 19.4 points, 6.9 rebounds 6.0 assists and 1.9 steals in Big 12 games this season. Booker ranks second in scoring and first in assists in conference games.
Booker's 96 assists for the season rank eighth in UT program history on the freshman assist record list.
Against ranked opponents this season, Booker is averaging 20.0 points, 7.3 rebounds and 6.3 assists per game.
Booker has garnered three Big 12 weekly honors and two national honors, including USBWA National Player of the Week.

Fans can support their favorite players in the remaining rounds by participating in Fan Voting, presented by Dell Technologies, starting Friday, January 26, on hoophallawards.com. The Fan Vote will count as one committee vote during the finalist selection process.
In March, five finalists will be presented to Miller and the Hall of Fame's selection committee. The Selection Committee for the Cheryl Miller Award is composed of top women's college basketball personnel, including media members, head coaches, sports information directors, and Hall of Famers.
The winner of the 2024 Cheryl Miller Award will be presented on a to be determined date, along with the other four members of the Women's Starting Five. Additional awards being presented include the Nancy Lieberman Award (Point Guard), Ann Meyers Drysdale Award (Shooting Guard), Katrina McClain Award (Power Forward), and the Lisa Leslie Award (Center), in addition to the Men's Starting Five.
