No. 10/10 Women’s Basketball’s defensive effort leads to 70-49 win at No. 24/25 West Virginia

Longhorns hold Mountaineers to 32 points under their season scoring average.
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — The No. 10/10 Texas women's basketball held West Virginia to 26.7 percent shooting and came away with a 70-49 win on Saturday at the WVU Coliseum.
Madison Booker scored 15 points and grabbed a season-high 12 rebounds for her first collegiate double-double. Booker added seven assists.
Shaylee Gonzales recorded 15 points as she made 3-of-6 from beyond the 3-point arc. Aaliyah Moore scored 12 points and added five rebounds. Taylor Jones and Khadija Faye added eight points each.
The Longhorns used a 10-3 run in the second quarter to go up 37-22 and took a 37-25 lead into halftime.
Texas came out strong in the second half with an 8-0 run and forced West Virginia to call a timeout. Shay Holle scored on a jumper and was fouled. She hit the free-throw to put Texas up 45-25 at the 6:49 mark of the third quarter.
The Longhorns outscored West Virginia 17-7 in the third quarter.
Up next Texas returns home to host TCU on Wednesday, Jan. 10 at 7:00 p.m. CT.

• The Longhorns improve to 15-1 overall and 2-1 in Big 12 action.
