Ackelia Smith named to the Bowerman Preseason Watch List

Smith joins Watch List for the third time in her career.
AUSTIN, Texas - The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced that Ackelia Smith of the Texas women's track and field team was named to the Bowerman Preseason Watch List on Tuesday afternoon.
Smith joins the Watch List for the third time in her career. The seven-time All-American won the 2023 NCAA Outdoor long jump title with the second-best performance in collegiate history with her jump of 7.08m (23-2.75). She also added a runner-up performance in the triple jump at 14.54m (47-8.5), the No. 2 jump in collegiate history.
During the indoor season, Smith finished second in long jump and third in triple jump. The Jamaica native matched the No. 6 jump in indoor long jump history and posted the No. 5 jump in triple jump history.
The Bowerman is presented annually by the USTFCCCA to the most outstanding male and female athlete in the NCAA and NAIA. The next women's Watch List is scheduled for February 7.
