Women’s Tennis advances four on day two of ITA Texas Regionals

The Longhorns had three singles players and one doubles pair move on in the main draws on Friday.
Fort Worth – Texas Women's Tennis advanced three singles players and one doubles pair in the main draws at the ITA Texas Regional Championships in Fort Worth on Friday.
Junior No. 96 Vivian Ovrootsky, and freshmen No. 104 Ashton Bowers and Ariana Anazagasty-Pursoo all moved on to the round of 32 in singles, while the duo of Ovrootsky and Bowers proceeded to the round of 16 in doubles.
Ovrootsky claimed a 6-0, 6-1 win over Sierra Berry of Baylor, while Bowers defeated Andrea Pascual of Prairie View A&M, 6-1, 6-2, and Anazagasty-Pursoo downed Marina Adati of North Texas, 7-5, 7-5. They will all take the court again at 9:30 a.m. CT with Ovrootsky facing Raquel Caballero Chica of TCU, Bowers taking on Isabel Pascual of TCU, and Anazagasty-Pursoo playing Arina Oreshchenkova of Texas Tech.
In doubles, sophomore Maddy MacNeille and freshman Audrey Deatherage began the day in the round of 64 with an 8-7 (10) tiebreaker win over Lyric Bonilla and Smilia Matovic of Incarnate Word. However, the duo fell in the next round to Drew Morris and Caroline McGinley of SMU, 8-1.
Ovrootsky and Bowers had a bye in the round of 64 before topping Maria Cascos and Olivia Sears of Abilene Christian, 8-1. They will next face Saara Orav and Nithesa Selvaraj of Rice at 8 a.m. CT.
