Women’s Tennis advances three into semifinals on day four of ITA Texas Regionals

The Longhorns had three singles players reach the semifinals on Sunday, setting the stage for two to face each other.
Fort Worth – Texas Women's Tennis advanced three singles players to the semifinals of the ITA Texas Regional Championships in Fort Worth on Sunday.
Junior No. 96 Vivian Ovrootsky, and freshmen No. 104 Ashton Bowers and Ariana Anazagasty-Pursoo all moved on, setting the stage for Ovrootsky to face Bowers in the semifinals at 8:30 a.m. CT on Monday. Meanwhile, Anazagasty-Pursoo will take on Daria Smetannikov of Texas A&M at the same time.
With three singles semifinalists in this year's head coach Howard Joffe has secured having a singles finalist or winner in the tournament for the 14th consecutive year with 10 straight at Texas and the previous four at Texas A&M.
Ovrootsky advanced with a 6-1, 6-2 win over 6 seed No. 109 Santa Strombacha of Houston, while Bowers downed 9 seed Liubov Kostenko of Baylor, 7-5, 6-1, and Anazagasty-Pursoo defeated 9 seed Jade Otway of TCU, 7-5, 6-4.
In doubles, Ovrootsky and Bowers fell to the 8 seed Avelina Sayfetdinova and Mariia Hlahola of Texas Tech, 8-5.
