Men’s Tennis advances three to main draw of ITA Texas Regionals

Freshmen Calvin Wang, Evan Burnett and Rahul Sachdev all emerged from qualifying on Thursday in Waco.
Waco, Texas – Texas Men's Tennis advanced three singles players to the main draw of the ITA Texas Regional Championships on Thursday at the Hurd Tennis Center in Waco.
Freshmen Calvin Wang, Evan Burnett and Rahul Sachdev all emerged from qualifying with Wang securing two wins, while Burnett and Sachdev both started with a bye and followed with a win.
Wang opened the day defeating Joshua Mandelbaum of Rice, 7-6 (5), 6-4, and then topped 9-16 seed Martin Delnido of Abilene Christian, 5-7, 6-1, 6-4. Burnett then downed Haruki Omori-Cowie of Lamar, 6-0, 6-4, while Sachdev defeated Alejandro Verdasco of Abilene Christian, 6-1, 6-4.
Sachdev will start day two against 1 seed #17 JC Roddick of Texas A&M at 10 a.m. CT, while Wang will face Leon Nickel of Lamar at 12:45 p.m. CT, and Burnett will take on Abdulraheem Isa Prairie View A&M at 1:15 p.m. CT.
Three other Longhorns will start in the main draw on Friday, including junior 3 seed No. 29 Jonah Braswell against Filip Apltauer of TCU, sophomore No. 124 Lucas Brown against Maks Silagy of SMU at 12 p.m. CT, and freshman Timo Legout against Takeyasu Sekiguchi of Texas Tech at 1:30 p.m. CT.
Doubles will also begin Friday with the entire tournament draw and results can be found here in the tournament hub. There will be no live stats, but there will be live video on the front six courts found here.
