Men’s Tennis moves three into quarterfinals of ITA Texas Regionals

Junior Jonah Braswell, sophomore Lucas Brown and freshman Timo Legout advanced, along with two doubles pairs making the round of 16.
Waco, Texas – Texas Men's Tennis moved three players into the quarterfinals of the ITA Texas Regional Championships on Saturday at the Hurd Tennis Center in Waco.
Junior No. 29 Jonah Braswell, sophomore No. 124 Lucas Brown, and freshman Timo Legout all won two matches to reach the quarterfinals. Braswell defeated Noah McDonald of SMU, 6-1, 2-6, 6-0, and 9-16 seed Emir Sendogan of Rice, 6-1, 6-2. Brown topped Kabeer Kapasi of Rice, 6-1, 6-2, and Piotr Pawlak of Texas Tech, 6-2, 6-0. Meanwhile Legout dowed Pedro Sasso of UT-Arlington, 6-1, 6-0, along with a top-20 win over 2 seed #19 Trevor Svajda of SMU, 6-4, 6-1.
Those three will all play on Sunday at 11 a.m. CT against players from Baylor. Braswell will face 5 seed #61 Devin Badenhorst, Brown will take on 4 seed #49 Zsombor Velcz, and Legout will play 9-16 seed Marko Miladinovic.
Freshman Rahul Sachdev also played in the round of 16 of the consolation draw on Saturday, but fell to Xavier Calvelo of SMU, 6-3, 6-2.
In doubles, two pairs advanced to the main draw round of 16, including 4 seed Legout and Brown defeating McDonald and Calvelo of SMU, 8-5, and 9-16 seed Braswell and freshman Evan Burnett downing Daniel Perez-Caraballo and Ian Uraga of UT-Arlington, 8-3.
Those pairs will both play on Sunday at 9 a.m. CT against teams from Rice. Legout and Brown will play Petro Kuzmenok and Santiago Navarro, while Braswell and Burnett will face Sendogan and Joshua Mandelbaum.
