Women's Cross Country and Isaac Alonzo secure spots at NCAA Championships

Women return to NCAAs after two years
COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Texas women's cross country program and Isaac Alonzo secured spots at the 2025 NCAA Cross Country Championships in Madison, Wisc., at the Thomas Zilmer Championship Course.
The women secured a spot at the championship meet for the sixth time in 10 seasons and first since 2022. Texas finished second overall with 81 points behind Arkansas with 80.
Graduate student Olivia Howell finished fifth overall with her personal best time of 19:29.9. Junior Elizabeth Pickett was eighth with her personal best time of 19:36.5, Eva Jess was 13th in 19:52.4 and freshman Sydni Wilkins was 23rd with her personal best at 20:12.4. All four finished with All-South Central Region honors for finishing in the top-25.
Senior Kyre Pretre was next up for Texas in 20:32.0 finishing 32nd overall. Brighton Mooney finished 36th overall with a time of 20:37.0 and Elizbeth Stockman was the final finisher in 43rd with a time of 20:44.5.
Senior Isaac Alonzo was the lone Longhorn to qualify for the men finishing fourth overall in the men's 10K. Alonzo finished with a time of 29:12.9 for a personal best.
It's the first time since 2020 the men haven't qualified as a team for the NCAA meet.
Nathanael Berhane (29:48.2), Logan Patete (30:09.4) and Hudson Heikkinen (30:20.0) all finished with All-South Central Honors finishing in the top-25 and posted personal bests in their final cross country race of the season.
Sophomore Jack Boyd was just off the regional team honors finishing 26th with a time of 30:21.9. Emmanuel Sgouros finished in 30:25.8 and Rodger Rivera closed the competition in 31:05.7.
The women and Alonzo will compete at NCAAs on Nov. 23.
