Women’s Tennis signs prep standout McNeil

Christasha McNeil, a native of Lindenhurst, N.Y., who has been one of the top juniors players in the world, will join the Longhorns’ roster in the fall of 2025.
Austin – University of Texas Women's Tennis has signed prep standout Christasha McNeil to an Athletic Scholarship Agreement (ASA), head coach Howard Joffe announced Monday. McNeil will enroll and join the program in the fall of 2025.
"I'm so grateful to Christasha and her family for the trust they put in our staff, program and university," Joffe said. "We are also deeply indebted to Chris McNeil, who is not only her dad, but a superb coach. I know we are going to get behind Chrissy in the service of supporting her goals and achieving them."
"I chose Texas because of its vibrant community and commitment to success," McNeil said. "I am super excited for what's ahead, and I can't wait to be part of the program."
A native of Lindenhurst, N.Y., McNeil is one of the top juniors players in the world with a career high ranking of No. 47. She is rated as a Blue Chip recruit by TennisRecruiting.net, which has listed her as high as No. 2 in the nation and No. 1 in the state of New York.
In professional play, she has reached the quarterfinals in her last three tournaments, all in 2024, including the W15 Huntsville, the W15 Santo Domingo, and the W35 Boca Raton, where she won four matches after coming out of qualifying. She also received a wild card to play in qualifying at the WTA 1000 BNP Paribas Open where she took Bernarda Pera, the No. 78 player in the world with a career high of No. 27, to a third-set tiebreaker before coming up just short, 8-6.
McNeil played both singles and doubles at both the Wimbledon and U.S. Open juniors in 2024, along with doubles at the U.S. Open in 2023. She advanced to the singles round of 32 at both in 2024, while reaching quarterfinals in doubles at that U.S. Open.
She has won nine juniors titles in her career, including four in singles and five in doubles. Two of the doubles titles came this year, including J200s in Santo Domingo and New Dehli. In 2023, she won the single titles at J100s in Burlington, Quebec City and Tampico, while she also won the doubles championship in Tampico and at the J30 Niagara. The year before, she captured J4 titles in Kingston in singles, and in Daytona Beach in doubles. In all, she has reached three other singles finals in the last two years, including the J200s in Santo Domingo and Kolkata in 2024 and the J100 in Tampico in 2023, and she also made the doubles final in Santo Domingo in 2024.
Additionally, she won the 2023 USTA National Clay Court 18s singles title in Mount Pleasant, S.C.
