No. 2 Men's Swim & Dive's Maurer and D'Ariano earn SEC weekly awards

Maurer garners Swimmer of the Week, while D'Ariano claims Freshman of the Week recognition.
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Rex Maurer and Landon D'Ariano earn the first SEC weekly awards for the Longhorns after the No. 2 Texas men's swimming and diving program defeated No. 4 Indiana, 97-89.
Maurer secured four podium finishes in the home win against the Hoosiers, including the fastest 500 free time (4:11.20) and 400 IM (3:40.90) in the nation. He was the runner-up in the 200 free behind teammate Luke Hobson with an NCAA B-cut time of 1:32.13 – ranking second in the NCAA. He later added a third-place finish in the 1000 free at 8:44.62. His performances earned him SEC Swimmer of the Week honors.
D'Ariano was named SEC Freshman of the Week after swimming in both individual medley relays. He was part of the Texas sweep in the 400 IM where he finished third with an NCAA B-cut time of 3:44.86. It also ranks as the seventh-fastest time in the NCAA this year. He later was sixth in the 200 IM with a time of 1:46.00.
