Men’s Tennis advances two at ITA Central Sectional Championships

Senior Pierre-Yves Bailly moved on to the round of 16 in singles, while he and partner Sebastian Gorzny reached the quarterfinals in doubles.
Fort Worth – Texas Men's Tennis senior No. 46 Pierre-Yves Bailly advanced to the round of 16 in singles, while he and partner Sebastian Gorzny moved on to the quarterfinals in doubles at the ITA Central Sectional Championships in Fort Worth on Thursday.
Bailly and Gorzny opened the day with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Duncan Chan and Kaj Quirijns of TCU in the doubles round of 16, before Bailly returned to the court for a 7-6 (3), 6-4 singles victory over Bjorn Swenson of Michigan in the round of 32.
Bailly and Gorzny will next face Bryce Nakashima and William Jansen of Ohio State at 9:30 a.m. CT on Friday morning, while Bailly will have a top-50 match against No. 31 Calvin Mueller of Nebraska at 11: 30 a.m. CT.

The event represents a chance for players to qualify for the NCAA Individual Championships. A total of 32 singles players and 16 doubles teams will be in the field. From the tournament, six singles players (semifinalists, two quarterfinal playoff winners) and three doubles teams (finalists, third place) will advance to the NCAA Championships.
The Central section encompasses the ITA Central, Midwest and Texas regions.
