Women’s Tennis advances one at ITA Central Sectionals/Conference Masters

Senior Vivian Ovrootsky and sophomore Shachf Lieberman moved on in doubles at the ITA Central Sectionals.
Ann Arbor, Mich./Rome, Ga. – Texas Women's Tennis advanced the No. 75 doubles pair of senior Vivian Ovrootsky and sophomore Shachf Lieberman to the quarterfinals of the ITA Central Sectional Championships on Thursday in Ann Arbor, Mich.
Ovrootsky and Lieberman topped the 3 seed of Luciana Perry and Audrey Spencer of Ohio State in a superbreaker, 7-5, 3-6, 1-0 (10), and will next face Lily Jones and Jessica Bernales of Michigan at 2:30 p.m. CT on Friday.
Ovrootsky also competed in singles, but fell to No. 109 Santa Strombacha of Houston, 6-4, 7-5. She will move to the consolation bracket against McKenna Schaefbauer of Illinois in the qualifying round of 16 at 10 a.m. CT.

Freshman Carmen Herea also competed in the ITA Conference Masters Championships on Thursday in Rome, Ga., but was downed, 6-4, 6-0, by Emily Tannenbaum of Navy. She will also move to a consolation bracket versus Fatima Gutierrez of Purdue in the qualifying round of 16 at 11 a.m. CT.
