Women’s Tennis closes play at ITA Central Sectionals/Conference Masters

The Longhorns completed competition at the tournaments in Ann Arbor, Mich., and Rome Ga., on Friday.
Ann Arbor, Mich./Rome, Ga. – Texas Women's Tennis closed play at the ITA Central Sectional Championships in Ann Arbor, Mich., and the ITA Conference Masters Championships in Rome, Ga., on Friday.
At the Central Sectionals, the No. 75 duo of junior Vivian Ovrootsky and sophomore Shachf Lieberman fell to Lily Jones and Jessica Bernales of Michigan, 6-1, 6-2, in the doubles quarterfinals.
In singles, No. 96 Ovrootsky then came up just short in two tiebreakers, 7-6 (2), 7-6 (4), to McKenna Schaefbauer of Illinois in consolation round of 16 qualifying.
At the Conference Masters, freshman Carmen Herea defeated Fatima Gutierrez of Purdue, 6-0, 6-4, in that consolation qualifying round of 16. Herea then had a bye to the consolation quarterfinals, but walked over for her next match against Chloe Routier of Western Illinois in a contest that had been scheduled for Saturday.
