Texas Football’s 2025 conference slate and full schedule was announced Wednesday evening by the Southeastern Conference.
AUSTIN, Texas – Texas Football's 2025 schedule was announced by the Southeastern Conference Wednesday evening.
The slate features seven games inside the state's borders, including six at home inside Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium. The Longhorns will have five true road contests, beginning with their season-opener at Ohio State in Columbus, Ohio, on Aug. 30 before hosting three-consecutive home games against San Jose State (Sept. 6), UTEP (Sept. 13) and Sam Houston (Sept. 27). Texas and Ohio State will meet for just the fourth time in history and first time since 2009 with UT holding a 2-1 series lead against the Buckeyes. It'll be Texas' second-ever trip to Ohio Stadium and first since 2005 after earning a 25-22 victory on the road. Sandwiched between the San Jose and Sam Houston games, Texas will have its first open date on Sept. 20. After Sam Houston, the Longhorns will embark on a four-game road swing against conference opponents that includes the traditional Texas-Oklahoma neutral site game in Dallas.
Texas will make its second-ever trip to Gainesville, Fla., to take on the Florida Gators on Oct. 4 before returning to the state of Texas for the Allstate Red River Rivalry, which will mark the 121st meeting between the two programs on Oct. 11 at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas. Texas leads the all-time series vs. Florida, 3-0-1, while also boasting an edge in the Red River Rivalry with a 64-51-5 series lead over the Sooners. The Longhorns then continue their road swing with their first-ever trip to Lexington, Ky., to face off with the Kentucky Wildcats on Oct. 18. It'll be the third matchup between Texas and Kentucky with the Horns holding a 2-0 series advantage.
UT will close out its road stretch at Mississippi State on Oct. 25 with Texas holding a 3-2 series lead vs. the Bulldogs. It will be Texas' second trip to Starkville and first since 1991 when Mississippi State picked up a 13-6 victory.
The Horns will cap the 2025 regular season with three of its last four games at home in Austin beginning with Vanderbilt on Nov. 1. The Commodores lead the all-time series, 8-4 and will be making their second-ever trip to Austin and first since 1903. Texas will have its second open date of the season on Nov. 8 before hitting the road to Athens, Ga., to face the Georgia Bulldogs on Nov. 15. Texas carries a 4-3 series mark against Georgia, including a pair of games in Austin and the SEC Championship game in Atlanta this year, while it'll be UT's first-ever matchup against the Bulldogs in Athens. Texas played the Bulldogs in Georgia in 1957 but that one took place in Atlanta, ending with a 26-7 Longhorn victory.
Texas returns to the friendly confines of Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium for its final two regular season matchups. First, Texas will host longtime rival Arkansas on Nov. 22 before the Cotton Holdings Lone Star Showdown with Texas A&M comes to town on Nov. 29 to conclude the regular season. It will be the 120th meeting between the Horns and the Aggies, with UT leading the all-time series 77-37-5, including a 46-13 record at home against A&M. Texas and Texas A&M with battle in Austin for the first time since the 2010 season. The Longhorns will take on Arkansas for the 81st time, Texas has won 57 of those games and is 29-11 vs. the Razorbacks at home.

Texas will be making its second College Football Playoff appearance in as many years after earning a No. 3 ranking in the CFP poll and the No. 5 overall seed. The Horns will host No. 13/13/16 Clemson at 3 p.m. CT Saturday, Dec. 21, inside Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium in the CFP first round. The game will broadcast on TNT with Dave Pasch (play-by-play), Dusty Dvoracek (color analyst), Taylor McGregor (reporter) and Laura Rutledge (reporter) on the call. The first-round winner will advance to the CFP Quarterfinal at the 57th Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl and face the Big 12 Champion and No. 4 seed Arizona State at Noon C.T. on Jan. 1, 2025, in Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. The game will air on an ABC/ESPN platform.
