Carlton averaged 18 points and 7.5 rebounds to help Texas to a pair of wins.
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — University of Texas women's basketball freshman Justice Carlton was named the SEC Freshman of the Week, the league announced on Monday.
Carlton averaged 18.0 points and 7.5 rebounds per game over two games for the week.
Against La Salle, Carlton scored 17 points and grabbed six rebounds. She also added four steals, two assists and one blocked shot.
On Sunday, against South Dakota State, Carlton led the Longhorns with 19 points on 8-of-12 shooting and recorded nine rebounds.
For the week Carlton shot 16-of-25 from the field for 64 percent. Carlton has scored in double figures in five games this season.
This is the second SEC Freshman of the Week honor for Carlton, who also earned the honor following the Gulf Coast Showcase, where she scored 30 points in the Longhorns win over Butler. Carlton was also named the USBWA National Freshman of the Week following that performance.
Carlton and the Longhorns (12-1) are back in action on Sunday, Dec. 29 when they host UTRGV at 3:00 p.m. CT on SEC Network.
