Women’s Basketball’s Carlton named SEC Freshman of the Week

Carlton averaged 15.3 points per game and 5.0 rebounds per game in the Gulf Coast Showcase.
AUSTIN, Texas — University of Texas women's basketball freshman Justice Carlton was named the Co-Freshman of the week from the Southeastern Conference on Tuesday.
Carlton had a breakout game against Butler last week in the Gulf Coast Showcase when she scored 30 points on 12-of-15 shooting to help the Longhorns to a 94-59 victory. Carlton shot 61.3 percent from the field for the entire tournament.
In the championship game of the tournament vs. No. 10 West Virginia Carlton scored 10 points and six rebounds and had a key steal in the final seconds of the game to secure the win and title for the Longhorns.
Carlton averaged 15.3 points and 5.0 rebounds over the three games as Texas went 3-0 to win the Gulf Coast Showcase in Estero, Fla.
Carlton and the Longhorns will be back in action on Thursday as they travel to South Bend, Ind., for their SEC-ACC Challenge game against No. 10 Notre Dame. The game tips at 6:00 p.m. CT on ESPN.
