Women’s Basketball’s Booker earns Big 12 Player and Freshman weekly awards

Booker is now a four-time Big 12 Freshman of the Week and two-time Big 12 Player of the Week selection this season.
AUSTIN, Texas — Texas women's basketball freshman Madison Booker earned Big 12 player and freshman of the week honors the league announced on Monday. Booker shared the Big 12 player award with BYU's Lauren Gustin.
Booker, who has scored in double figures in 16 straight games and 20-plus in eight games this season, averaged 20.5 points, 4.0 rebounds and 7.0 assists in leading Texas to a 2-0 week with wins against Houston and Iowa State.
In Big 12 play, Booker is averaging 20.1 points, 5.5 rebounds and 5.1 assists while shooting 48.9 percent from the field and 91.9 percent from the free-throw line.
Against ranked opponents this season, Booker is averaging 20.8 points, 5.7 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game.
This is the fourth Big 12 freshman of the week honor for Booker this season and second Big 12 player of the week honor. Booker has also earned National Freshman of the Week two times and National Player of the Week one time this season.
Booker has been named to the Wooden Award Top 20 Watch List, which goes to the player of the year in men's and women's college basketball and the Naismith Trophy Player of the Year Midseason Team. Booker has also been named to the Cheryl Miller Award Top 10 list, which goes to the top small forward in women's college basketball.
