Skilken wins on platform at Zone D Diving Championships

Texas had five divers qualify on platform for the NCAA Championships.
HOUSTON – Texas Diving's Jordan Skilken won on platform to highlight the final day of the NCAA Zone D Diving Championships at the CRCW Natatorium on Wednesday. The Longhorns qualified three men and two women in the event for the NCAA Championships. All told across the three diving events, four student-athletes from the women's team and all six from the men's squad have qualified for the NCAA Championships.
Skilken scored 628.70 points to claim the platform victory by one and a half points over Montserrat Lavenant of LSU and earn a spot at the NCAA Championships. Sarah Carruthers placed fourth with 552.00 points to qualify for the national meet. Caroline Kupka finished just outside of the top nine, the benchmark for championship qualification, finishing 10th with 487.10 points. With her qualyfiing score on platform, Carruthers will also compete on 3-meter after placing in the top-12 in that event.
On the men's side, Pierce Brooke paced the Longhorn effort with a fifth-place finish, scoring 688.35 points to qualify for NCAA Championships. Despite finishing outside of the top seven, the benchmark for qualification in the men's competition, Tanner Braunton, who placed eighth with 636.80, and Noah Duperre, who finished 10th with 616.70 points, also earned spots in the national meet for qualifying in other events while posting a top-12 result on platform. Both Braunton and Duperre will also compete on 1-meter and 3-meter at the NCAA Championships.
Next up for Texas is the NCAA Championships with the women traveling to Athens, Ga. on March 20-23 and then men heading to Indianapolis on March 27-30.
