The Longhorns will face either Colorado State or Virginia in the NCAA First Round on Thursday, March 21 at 5:50 p.m. CT on TNT.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The tip-off time for The University of Texas' NCAA First Round contest on Thursday, March 21 has been set for 5:50 p.m. Central (6:50 p.m. Eastern), CBS Sports and Turner Sports announced Sunday night. The Longhorns (20-12, 9-9 Big 12), the No. 7 seed in the Midwest Region, will face the winner of Tuesday's First Four contest between No. 10 seeds Colorado State (24-10, 10-8 Mountain West) and Virginia (23-10, 13-7 ACC) at Spectrum Center, and the game will be televised nationally by TNT.
This marks the 38th overall appearance by the Longhorns in the NCAA Tournament. UT will make its 22nd NCAA Tournament appearance in the last 25 seasons (not including the 2021 postseason which was canceled due to COVID-19) and is just one of seven schools nationally to appear in at least 22 of the last 25 NCAA tourneys. The Longhorns also are one of just six schools to appear in at least 30 of the last 35 NCAA Tournaments.
Texas will be making its fourth-consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament (2021-22-23-24), the longest streak for the Longhorns since UT made 14-straight NCAA tourney appearances from 1999-2012. The Longhorns will be attempting to win their NCAA First Round contest for the third consecutive season, as Texas reached the NCAA Second Round in 2022 and the NCAA Elite Eight last year. This would mark the longest such streak for the Longhorns since UT won at least one NCAA tourney contest in four-straight seasons from 2006-09 (2006 Elite Eight, 2007 Second Round, 2008 Elite Eight, 2009 Second Round).
