AUSTIN, Texas – Leo Neugebauer was named the 2024 NCAA Division I Men's Indoor Track and Field Field Athlete of the Year.
The NCAA indoor heptathlon champion broke another German National Record and broke his own UT record, scoring 6,347 points on his way to his first NCAA indoor title. His score ranks as the fourth-best in collegiate history.
Outside of the heptathlon, Neugebauer also took home the Big 12 Indoor long jump title with his jump of 7.92m (26-0) that ranked 11th on the seasonal all-college descending order list and is tied for fifth on the UT All-Time list with Eric Metcalf. The eight-time All-American is the first Longhorn in Texas history to have won both a mutli event and an open event at the conference meet.
Neugebauer joins Ryan Crouser (2016), Donovan Kilmartin (2007) and Trey Hardee (2006) as the only Longhorns to earn the award.
