No. 2 Women’s Swim & Dive captures Big 12 Championship

Texas won 21 of 22 events to win the 12th consecutive Big 12 Conference title and 22nd overall.
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – No. 2 Texas Women's Swimming & Diving won the 2024 Big 12 Conference Championship on Saturday at The Aquatic Center at Mylan Park. The Longhorns won all 21 of 22 events to win the program's 12th consecutive conference title, all since the arrival of head coach Carol Capitani.

The victory marked the 22nd Big 12 title for the Longhorns in 28 years in the conference. All told, the Longhorns have won a total of 36 conference titles since 1983 (14 Southwest Conference, 22 Big 12 Conference).

Olivia Bray picked up the Longhorns' first victory of the night, winning her third-straight conference title in the 200 back after touching the wall in 1:53.01 to earn gold. Berit Berglund made it a one-two finish for Texas, taking second in 1:55.43, while Alicia Wilson and Emma Kern tied for fourth in 1:56.14.
Erin Gemmell collected the next Texas win, taking first in the 100 free with a career-best swim of 48.08, the freshman's second individual title of the meet. Grace Cooper won bronze for the Longhorns in 48.74. The final heat was dominated by Longhorns, as Ava Longi took fourth (48.79), Sienna Schellenger fifth (49.08), Emma Davidson sixth (49.19) and Alexa Fulton eighth (49.33).
Erica Sullivan added another gold to her resume, winning the 1650 free for the third consecutive year with a season-best time of 15:52.90, the eight-fastest performance in UT history. Her time moved her to fourth in the nation this season in the event. Abby Pfeifer joined Sullivan on the podium, placing second in a season-best 16:18.83.
Lydia Jacoby followed with a repeat victory in the 200 breast, posting a season-best and A-cut time of 2:05.58 to sweep the breaststroke events for the second year in a row. Anna Elendt registered a runner-up result in 2:06.48, while Campbell Stoll swam a season-best 2:11.91 to finish fifth.
Texas collected the final victory of the night with a gold-medal performance in the 400 free relay. Davidson, Gemmell, Longi and Kelly Pash combined for a swim of 3:12.01, the 10th-fastest performance in Texas history.
On the springboards, Bridget O'Neil scored 366.80 points to win bronze on 3-meter, just ahead of Hailey Hernandez, who took fourth with 363.65 points. Amanda Stalfort posted a fifth-place result with 341.15 points, while Sarah Carruthers scored 313.90 points to finish seventh.
