Women's Swimming's Jillian Cox and Kate Hurst advance to 800 free final at U.S. Olympic Trials

Campbell Chase places 10th and Kelly Pash finishes 11th in 200 IM semifinal.
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — University of Texas rising sophomore Jillian Cox and incoming freshman Kate Hurst both advanced to the final of the 800-meter freestyle on Friday at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials – Swimming inside Lucas Oil Stadium. Cox and Hurst will compete in the 800 free final on Saturday night.
The top finisher in the individual swimming events at the U.S. Olympic Trials earns an automatic spot on the official Team USA roster, while the runner-up is considered a near lock to make the team as well.
In Friday evening's semifinals of the 200-meter individual medley, incoming freshman Campbell Chase posted the 10th-fastest time of the night with a mark of 2:13.06 and former Longhorn Kelly Pash finished 11th in a time of 2:14.32.
In Friday morning's prelims, Cox posted the second-fastest time in the 800-meter freestyle with a mark of 8:31.58 and Hurst placed fifth at 8:32.24. Katie Ledecky had the fastest time in the prelims with a mark of 8:17.70. A pair of Longhorns advanced to the semifinals in the 200-meter individual medley. Pash posted the 10th-fastest time in the prelims with a mark of 2:14.13, while Chase placed 13th at 2:14.55.
