Longhorn Nation,
Well, WELCOME BACK LONGHORNS, WE SURE DID MISS YOU! Y'all know the ol' adage, absence makes the heart grow fonder. It certainly did, and we are so fired up to be stampeding into a new year and I know you are too. I'd say the dog days of summer are behind us, but there were no dog days and man was the pride and winning tradition of The University of Texas on full display since we put a bow on a historic 2023-24 campaign in our last Forty Acres Insider. Since then, we had an epic SEC Celebration, took center stage at SEC Football Media Days, saw our Longhorns claim 16 Olympic medals, and how cool was last Thursday's announcement that the Lone Star Showdown and the all-sports trophy competition that comes with it is being restored thanks to our friends at Cotton Holdings, Inc. Last week, we also unveiled our Texas Athletics Hall of Honor Class of 2024! We've certainly been cranking away over here, all the while getting ready to make 2024-25 another fantastic year with the best fans in the land!
the dawn of a new era.

welcome to the @SEC, Longhorn Nation. now let's get to work. 🤘#HookEm pic.twitter.com/P9WRaWgKQf
It's finally here my friends and all I got to say is YEE-HAW! In just a few short days, we'll be KICKING OFF THE 2024 FOOTBALL CAMPAIGN and as we head into year four under Coach Sark, we couldn't be more fired up. We know y'all are ready to go to as season tickets are sold out for the third straight year and we can't wait to see 100,000 of our closest friends with us in DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium starting this Saturday — and we're celebrating the 100th Anniversary of our iconic stadium to boot! Last year was one for the record books and now it's time for a historic year one in the Southeastern Conference. Since our Big 12 Championship and first-ever College Football Playoff semifinal appearance, it's been a joy to see this team roll up their sleeves and get back to work. Spring Ball was so productive, we hummed through summer camp, and now it's ALL GAS NO BRAKES into a new year. We can't wait to get it rollin' and see y'all on the Forty this Saturday as we get things started with Colorado State (2:30 pm CT/ESPN). Our staff has worked tirelessly to make sure you have an even more fantastic gameday experience and we've drummed up some special new treats around our gamedays this year for just the occasion, including the launch of Big Bertha's Bazaar (a unique, new gameday shopping experience) so read on down in the notes for all the exciting info on that. It's gonna be a raucous day and fun-filled start to the year, so get your Horns Up and join us for one fabulous family reunion!
It's game week on the Forty! 🤘

As y'all know, Texas One Fund is the official organization supporting name, image, and likeness (NIL) opportunities for our student-athletes, and this is a tremendous opportunity for all of you incredible Longhorn Foundation members to directly impact our student-athletes. Going forward, your pride, passion and commitment to our student-athletes through NIL giving will be rewarded with Loyalty Points. The excitement on campus these days is palpable as everything's in full swing and we got the week going with Sunday's annual Gone To Texas event. Coach Sark and Coach Capitani joined President Hartzell to welcome all our incoming students to the best university in the nation as they formally began their collegiate experience under a burnt orange sky from our iconic Tower. We know our students are fired up, and that's evident by a record-setting year for Big Ticket student sales. Then we had a blast at our annual 4EVER TEXAS Welcome back celebration on Monday. That's the event where we gather with all our student-athletes and staffs, celebrate the year that was and get ready to charge into 2024-25. What a glorious site it is to see and look out on folks, this group is set for a phenomenal year and looking forward to you joining them for a thrilling ride! It's so dang fun to have all our student-athletes back, the campus abuzz with students, and it's just a wonderful time to be a Longhorns.

We've had plenty of sports action already too as No. 12 Soccer is off to an undefeated start (3-0-1) and All-American Trinity Byars has already eclipsed our all-time career goals mark with 51 and counting! Thanks to everyone who spent Saturday with our No. 1-ranked Volleyball squad at the Orange-White match at Gregory Gym. Our Horns launch their two-time national title defense with a big-time matchup against No. 3 Wisconsin in Milwaukee on Sunday (11:30 a.m. CT, FOX). And Cross Country season is off and running, too.

Hey, and if you haven't downloaded that Longhorn Network app, what are you waiting for!? Our talented crew is hard at work generating content for our reimagined and FREE LHN STREAMING SERVICE, broadcasting events, telling stories and carrying press conferences so don't miss any of the outstanding Longhorn programming. We even have a brand spanking new Texas Studios Powered by our friends at DELL Technologies. For those of you still asking where you can see LHN programming, here's all the details.
Before we get to all the notes, I want to take a moment to reflect on and honor Edith Royal, who passed away Monday morning. The wife of our legendary coach, Darrell Royal, and iconic First Lady of Texas Football, Edith was an incredible woman who impacted so many and was such a powerful force in everything she did. She and Coach Royal were an amazing couple that will always have a prominent place in the history of The University of Texas, our great state, and college football as a whole. Edith was one of the first to greet me and offer her support when I was blessed to become your athletics director and was always so gracious and kind. She did the same for Coach Sark. There's no couple that will ever mean more to our great university, and their memorable days on the Forty Acres will never be forgotten. They're together in Heaven now and their legacy will live on. On behalf of Texas Athletics, I send our love and condolences to their family, friends, loved ones, their many former players, staff, and families, and all of Longhorn Nation.
Reunited in Heaven today..🙏🏽 pic.twitter.com/qn1pfCoVDT

New tap-to-scan technology for mobile tickets
This season, we have moved entirely to NFC technology for our mobile tickets to expedite entry and ensure the best possible gameday experience. There will no longer be barcodes on tickets and screenshots will not be accepted. Please remember to download and save your tickets to your Apple or Google Wallet before leaving for the stadium. When you approach your gate, all you need to do is hold your phone up to the ticket scanner to easily tap-and-scan for entry. For more information, you can visit our Mobile Headquarters page or visit any of our ticket resolution areas on gamedays outside Gates 1, 8, 25, and 32.
Stay Cool and Hydrated
Longhorn Nation, your health, safety, and enjoyment are our top priorities and you can help us by preparing and hydrating prior, during AND after the game. We've got several initiatives to help keep you cool and hydrated on gameday including 17 "water monsters" located throughout the stadium for FREE water. Please ask an usher for assistance in locating the "water monster" nearest to your seat location. All fans are also allowed to bring one (1) factory-sealed plastic bottle of water into DKR (up to 1 liter). No other outside beverages or containers are allowed. In addition, we'll have four St. David's HealthCare cooling stations available, and those will be located near Sections 32, 106, 118 and 124 and feature fans, cooling towels and water.
The best pregame experience in the nation gets even bigger!
All of the pregame experiences you've come to love are set to return and open at 10 a.m. including Bevo Blvd pres. by H-E-B, Longhorn City Limits pres. by Still Austin Whiskey Co, Smokey's Midway pres. by Conecuh Sausage, and Hook `Em Hangout. And this season, we get to welcome the newest gameday tradition…Big Bertha's Bazaar! Located on Moody Center plaza, this area is a unique, new gameday shopping experience for Longhorns fans before each home football game. Paying homage to one of our greatest traditions, Big Bertha, Big Bertha's Bazaar will feature a grand marketplace of cabanas with many of our top brands offering a wide variety of upscale Texas merchandise with unique designs not available at our other gameday retailers. Fans ages 21-and-up can even grab a cocktail including frosés and lite bites at the Bazaar Bar. Big Bertha herself will be there each and every game for photo ops. This area will also remain open up to one hour following the game.

Bevo Parade and Stadium Stampede highlight Bevo Blvd activities on Saturday!
Just like our football team, the big guy has also been hard at work at the ranch and at DKR preparing for the upcoming season. You can officially usher in a new season with Bevo XV as he arrives at 11:30 a.m. for the Bevo Parade presented by Texas Farm Bureau Insurance, followed by greeting Coach Sark and our team at the Stadium Stampede at 12:15 p.m. This is the perfect opportunity to show our guys your best Hook `em's and cheer them on as they head inside the stadium to prepare for kickoff numero uno of the 2024 season.
Conecuh Sausage and Fletcher's Corny Dogs hit Smokey's Midway
We are very excited to welcome our partners at Conecuh Sausage as the new presenting sponsor of Smokey's Midway on the north end of the stadium. You'll have the opportunity to try their delicious meats and in addition, we are proud to welcome one of the State Fair of Texas' staples, Fletcher's Corny Dogs, to Smokey's Midway this season. We've still got all the carnival rides, games, and more at Smokey's Midway and all of the attractions and prizes are F-R-E-E!
Official pregame radio show is now LIVE from Hook 'Em Hangout
If you're looking for the best food trucks and craft beers on gameday along with shaded tents showing the top college football games from across the country, head to Hook 'Em Hangout outside the northwest corner of the stadium in Winship Circle. This year, we are proud to elevate this area with our friends at iHeartRadio to bring the official Sports Radio AM 1300 AM The Zone Longhorn Gameday Pregame Show LIVE to Hook `Em Hangout starting at 11:30 a.m. Big Beertha, our giant draft beer truck with 10-plus craft taps, will be back and we've got 11 of Austin's finest food trucks ready to serve you on gameday.
New Flat Creek Estate Wine Garden debuts outside the north end on Saturday
We are proud to welcome our new partners at Flat Creek Estate to Texas Football gamedays with the addition of the Flat Creek Estate Wine Garden. Located outside the north end of the stadium across from Smokey's Midway, you can sip award-winning wines, cool down with a froze, and listen to live music under the trees for an authentic Texas Hill Country experience.
Major concessions upgrades at DKR this season!
Earlier this month, we announced our new partnership with 1883 Provision Co and we can't wait for you to see all of the enhancements they've been working so hard towards to provide an even better food and beverage experience at DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium, especially for our friends on the east side. You'll be shocked when you see an entirely redesigned east concourse with new grab 'n' gos and walk-in stands that will alleviate traffic congestion big time. In total, we've added an additional 37 grab 'n' go and self-checkout stands throughout the stadium. We've got new concession stands including Conecuh Sausage (Sec. 6, Sec. 129), Salvation Pizza (Sec. 6), Fletcher's Corny Dogs (Gate 25), Pluckers Wing Bar (Sec. 29), Tony C's (Sec. 31), and HTeaO (Gate 32, Sec. 128). You can find a full list of food locations here!
For a seventh consecutive season, we will also be bringing back our Fan First Menu that includes 15 items with an average discount of 30% off all game long. Happy Hour pricing ($5.50 domestic beer /$6.50 premium beer) will continue to be offered pregame at Bevo Blvd, Longhorn City Limits, Smokey's Midway, and Hook `Em Hangout. And you know we love our guy Bijan Robinson. That's right, No. 5's signature gourmet dijon mustard Bijan Mustardson will be served at concession stands at DKR this season!

New University of Texas Club has officially launched!
We sincerely appreciate all of our fans for their patience concerning updates on The University of Texas Club. Our partners at 1883 Provision Co just launched the brand-new UT Club, a member dining club that any Longhorn can join! You can choose from three different membership tiers with benefits that provide an elevated experience on Texas Football gamedays. And Whoa Nelly, you'll be in awe when you see the new UT Club triple-decker tent on the LBJ Lawn that will provide premium experiences at Longhorn City Limits. To join the new club or learn about how you can access UT Club gameday spaces beginning this Saturday at the Colorado State game, visit UniversityofTexasClub.com.
Unprecedented championship success to be recognized at halftime
Make sure to be in your seats during halftime for the Longhorn Band's first halftime show of the season! Following that, we will have our largest on-field recognition ever as we salute all of our teams who won national and conference championships this past season as well as all of our student-athletes who helped us win the LEARFIELD Directors' Cup and our third consecutive Women's Capital One Cup in 2023-24.
Texas Studios debuts an enhanced videoboard production this Saturday
This summer, we have completely replaced our videoboard and LED ribbon signage inside the stadium. Fans will immediately notice the upgrades on gameday as we debut a new game presentation. This moment has been years in the making through collaboration with the Moody College of Communication and Bevo Video Productions. Just a few weeks ago, we had a ribbon-cutting ceremony to open a brand-new broadcast and videoboard production center, Texas Studios powered by Dell Technologies, a state-of-the-art facility located inside Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium. We're so proud of our team and all of our partners who helped turn this dream into reality!

Byars helps Soccer open 2024 campaign in stellar fashion
There's no better way to begin a new athletic year than winning and that's exactly what our No. 12 Soccer team has been doing over the first two weeks of the season. Through four matches, Coach Kelly's crew has recorded three wins and a 0-0 draw against No. 24 Iowa. Our Longhorns posted home wins over Houston (1-0) and Cal State Bakersfield (4-0) during their opening weekend, as senior goalkeeper Mia Justus tallied back-to-back clean sheets. Our ladies then made the drive up I-35 North and came away with an impressive 6-3 victory over SMU. And how about the effort of senior star Trinity Byars during her Dallas homecoming, scoring a career-best FOUR goals in the win while becoming the first player in program history to reach 50 career goals. Trinity, you are simply awesome! Up next, our Longhorns return to the pitch at Mike A. Myers Stadium on Sunday (1 p.m. CT/SEC Network+) against Central Michigan.

A Texas Athletics 'Thank You' for a historic donation
I'd be remiss if I didn't take a moment for another shoutout to two incredible Longhorn families and athletics supporters, Kurt and Tara Arnold and Jason and Kisha Itkin. In appreciation of their historic donations to Texas Athletics, you'll now see their names atop the south endzone scoreboard. They are awesome Longhorns who are unbelievably generous to The University of Texas and have great pride, passion, and love for our athletics programs. We are so fortunate and grateful to have the in our Longhorn Family!
The return of the Lone Star Showdown and a thank you to a new official title sponsor!
What an awesome time we had in Houston last Thursday promoting the return of one of the oldest and most storied rivalries in collegiate athletics. We're so grateful that our friends at Cotton Holdings, Inc. officially signed on to become the title sponsor of the Cotton Holdings Lone Star Showdown rivalry series between Texas and Texas A&M. Cotton Holdings will title sponsor all contests between our two schools in every head-to-head sport in both Austin and College Station, as well as the season-long scoring system based on the results of the 19 shared sports that both schools compete in, to determine which school wins the annual Lone Star Showdown rivalry series trophy.

Craig Way is so nice they gave him the award twice!
We need to give a big-time "Hook 'Em" to our friend and Voice of the Longhorns, Craig Way. We've always known Craig is the best in the business, but it's great to see him earn some well-deserved recognition from his peers in the industry. Earlier this year, Craig was named the 2023 Texas Sportscaster of the Year by the National Sports Media Association (NSMA). This marked the second time that Way has earned the prestigious honor, as he was previously recognized in 2017. Craig formally received his honor in late June at the 64th NSMA Awards Weekend and National Convention in Greensboro, N.C. Congrats again to an absolute pro!
