Freshman Rosa Maalouf scores first career goal in collegiate debut.
AUSTIN, Texas – Three days after scoring only one goal in their season-opening victory, the Texas Longhorn offense turned up the pressure valve on Sunday afternoon by scoring four goals within a 20-minute span en route to earning a 4-0 win over Cal State Bakersfield, marking UT's first-ever win against the Roadrunners.
After both teams traded possession throughout the match's first 30 minutes, it wasn't until Lauren Lapomarda connected with Chloe Shimkin, who found Avery Clark in the box on a cross that the 5-foot-11 forward headed past CSUB goalkeeper Hollee Hercik for the match's first goal.
Nearly nine minutes later, Rosa Maalouf sent Texas into the locker room for halftime with a 2-0 lead after the freshman from Canada first a strike from well outside the 18-yard box that went past the outstretched, diving arms of Hercik and into the top-left corner of the goal for her first career collegiate goal.
