Women’s Basketball’s Booker named SEC Player of the Week

Booker averaged 25 points per game to help the Longhorns to a pair of victories over Auburn and Maryland.
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — University of Texas women's basketball sophomore Madison Booker was named the Southeastern Conference Player of the Week, the league announced today.
Booker scored 28 points on 13-of-19 shooting from the field to lead Texas to an 89-51 victory over No. 8 Maryland in the Coretta Scott King Classic in Newark, N.J. Booker had 20 points at the half of the game. It was her eighth game of the season scoring 20 or more points and it helped Texas to their largest margin of victory over a top 10 team in program history.
Booker scored 22 points to help Texas to a road win at Auburn earlier in the week. For the week Booker averaged 25 points per game and shot 19-of-31 (.613) from the field and 50 percent from 3-point range, while hitting 9-of-11 (.818) from the charity stripe.
For the season Booker is averaging nearly 50 percent shooting from the field, 47.1 percent shooting from 3-point range and 85 percent from the free-throw line.
Booker and the Longhorns host No. 17 Tennessee at Moody Center on Thursday, Jan. 23 with an 8:00 p.m. CT tip.
