Women’s Basketball’s Jones named SEC Player of the Week

Taylor Jones averaged 22.5 points and 10 rebounds per game in wins over Tennessee and Ole Miss.
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — University of Texas women's basketball senior Taylor Jones was named the Southeastern Conference Player of the Week, the league announced today.
Taylor Jones recorded her sixth double-double of the season and 24th of her career with 21 points and a season-high 14 rebounds to help Texas to their fifth ranked win of the season in a victory over Tennessee.
Jones followed that up with another 20-point game with 24 points in a road win at Ole Miss. For the week Jones shot 16-of-23 (69.6 percent) from the field and 13-of-14 (92.9 percent) from the free-throw line. Jones was clutch in the victory over Ole Miss with 10 points in the fourth quarter including a jumper to tie the game with 2:02 to play. Jones also blocked three shots against the Rebels.
For the season Jones is shooting 65.2 percent from the field. Jones has scored 1,674 points in her collegiate career, including 924 at Texas.
Jones and the Longhorns host Missouri on Thursday, Jan. 30 at 8:00 p.m. CT on SEC Network.
